What you see here for sale is a VERY RARE FIND an Original Unrestored Rust Free Wimbledon White 1968 Ford Torino GT Hardtop - this is a rare Factory S Code 390 4v High Perfomance FE Big Block C6 Auto & 3.25 9" Diff
The Ford Torino is basically a XW XY Falcon which some different sheet metal - If this was a 1968 Mustang with these options it would be 4 times the price !!!
It is a Rust Free and Real Nice Straight Bodied 1968 Torino GT 2 Door Hardtop Formal Roof with Factory Bucket Seats, Floor Change Automatic with Console.
I brought this car in Tulare California which has a Sunny Dry Low humidy Climate it was parked under a building - The Guy I brought it off brought it from the Original Owner who lived in Fresno 10 Years Ago
Back in 1985 the original owner had damaged the drivers door and rear guard after the car was sitting in his driveway idling in park and somehow the transmission linkage wasnt adjusted properly and the car went into Reverse and went sailing out the driveway and pulled the drivers door clean off and also damaged the rear guard - he then parked it up - The Guy I brought it from drove it home to his place which is around 80 kms without a door on it - he picked up a replacement Door and Hinges which has just been put on the car to ship - will need minor repair to front area and adjusting properly to fit.
The car was brought new in the Central Valley of California and still has the Original Black Number Plates on the car - There is some surface rust - most of which has appeared from changing from a dry climate to Queensland High Humidity but there no real rust in the whole car its been up in the Dry Valley all its life - Which has been a little harsh on the Paint and upolstery but there no rust and you can see what you are getting !!
I got it running and adjusted the transmission linkage so we didnt have a repeat of the above - I also put some new wheel cylinders and shoes etc on the rear brakes and a new master cylinder and brake hoses up the front - It will need to be checked thru in the brakes and suspension department for sure as all the rubber bushes will need replacing and this car has been registered for 28 Years !!! So Please dont ask if you can drive it home on a Trade Plate !!!
Its still a project car but a bloody easy one - its a very rare car with Factory 325 Horsepower 390 4v Hi Performance Big Block Motor, C6 Auto Transmission and 9" Diff with 3.25 Gears and has Power Steering and Power Disc Brakes
The Motor is all original and matching numbers - its had a replacement Holley Carb on it - but everything else all looks original equipment.
Just Imported from USA this is a Real Clean & Original Car
This is a Rare find in Australia a US Model 1968 Torino Formal Roof and its a Genuine GT too !!
It Can be Registered in all States a Left hand Drive - I have Import Approval Permit etc .
The Body has Real Nice Good Straight Panels for the most part - its got a few dents on Right Hand Door, Right Front Guard and Left Rear Guard and will still need some work here and there - before painting - but its not rusty
All the Stainless Moulds and Bumpers are in Great Condition - It is a Factory GT Car with Genuine Set of Rivetted 12 Slot Wheels and GT Caps & Bands
All the Glass is Real Nice and rolls up and down etc except for the drivers door glass which is still in the original door which is on the boot
The Interior will need a re-doing for sure the two front bucket seats both need recovering - and the Dash Pad is Cracked around the Radio Vent but I just picked up a nice used blue dash pad in US and its included with the car, the Hoodlining and carpets are buggered - but thats about all it needs - and all of that is available from Dearborn Classics etc
Its getting impossible to find almost Rust Free 1968 Cars these days anywhere - Let a Real Factory Torino GT with a S Code 390 Motor - thats 325 Horsepower from Factory (XT Falcon GTs that Year were only 230 Horses)
